Germany’s high performance sports car-maker, RUF-Automobile, is to set up a joint venture factory in Bahrain. It will be the first car manufacturing plant in Bahrain and the Gulf. The new company, RUF-Middle East (RUF-ME) will manufacture cars at a factory near the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC), Sakhir.
The company is being set up with local businessman, Rashad Janahi, at an initial investment of $50 million (BD18.9m).
A joint announcement was made by RUF-Automobile managing director Alois Ruf and Mr Janahi yesterday in the presence of Southern Governor and Public Commission for the Protection of Environ-ment, Marine Resources and Wildlife president Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
